Edmund C. Grant, Attorney At Law

Edmund C. Grant opened his Lexington law office at the Liberties, Suite 3, 33 Bedford Street on January 1, 1991.


Mr. Grant is a graduate of the University of Rochester and Suffolk University Law School. He served in the U.S. Army and is a Vietnam Veteran.


He began his legal career in 1976 as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Boston Law Department, concentrating on public law and civil trial work in municipal, state, and federal courts for four years. He thereafter practiced with private firms in Boston and Acton.


His private practice emphasizes real estate and local municipal law, business, elder and estate planning law; and an extensive referral network of lawyers who specialize in other areas. He is an approved attorney for several banks and mortgage companies. He appeared several times as a guest on the radio talk show “The Money Experts.”


He has been a regular columnist for the “Lexington Minuteman” newspaper Op.Ed. Section 1997-2002 and since January 2008 writes the column “Lexington At Large”.


He is a former elected member of the Planning Board of the Town of Lexington, and a current Town Meeting Member and member of the Board of Assessors; and a former member of the Council on Aging and Economic Development Advisory Committee.


He is a past President of the Rotary Club of Lexington; a past member of the Board of Directors of the Lexington Golf Club and Lexington Chamber of Commerce; and a past President of the Lexington Historical Society.


In 2004 he served as local counsel for successful Town Meeting rezonings including the Patriot Partners commercial redevelopment of Lexington Technology Park (former Raytheon property); and Avalon Bay Communities residential redevelopment of Lexington’s part of the Metropolitan State Hospital property for 387 housing units; The Beal Company proposal of Three Ledgemont Center in 2009.


He has lived in Lexington since 1982 with his wife, Linda, and has two daughters, Caitlin and Julie. He enjoys reading, music, golf, and crossword puzzles, and his family Scottish Terrier “Dewey.”
